Powerpop Analytics – Cart Analysis

What is Cart Analysis?

Cart Analysis is a reporting feature that tracks how customers interact with their shopping carts. It shows how many visitors add items to their cart, how much revenue is left behind when purchases are not completed, and which product categories, items, or brands are most often abandoned. This helps identify lost sales opportunities and guides strategies to recover them.

Number of Visitors with Open Orders

Shows how many visitors currently have items in their carts but haven’t completed checkout. In this period, there were 29 visitors, which is a 21.6% decrease compared to last week.

Trendline in Charts

In the Number of Visitors with Open Orders chart, you will notice a trendline displayed below the main data points.

A trendline is a line that shows the overall direction or pattern of the data over time. It helps you quickly see whether the number of visitors with open orders is increasing, decreasing, or staying consistent.

Example:

On 2025-08-12, the metric

COUNT_DISTINCT(visitor_id) = 158

means there were 158 unique visitors with open orders on that day.

The trendline smooths out these daily values so you can easily identify long-term patterns rather than focusing only on daily fluctuations.

Revenue Left in Carts

Displays the total value of products that were added to carts but not purchased. The amount is 31.3k, reflecting a 71% decrease compared to last week, meaning fewer high-value items were abandoned.

Revenue Left in Carts

This chart also includes a trendline showing the value of items left in shopping carts.

Example:

On a given day, the metric

SUM(item_value) = 11.6m

means there was 11.6 million in revenue left in carts.

The trendline makes it easy to see if the total value of abandoned carts is rising, falling, or stable over time.

Cart Filled Contacts

Represents the number of contacts who added items to their cart.

  • For example: This reached 443 contacts, an increase of 66.5% compared to last week, showing stronger engagement.

Helps analyze shopping behavior - whether customers make fast, impulse-driven decisions or take longer to evaluate before completing or abandoning their cart.

Cart Basket Size vs. Time Needed

A chart that compares the number of items in a visitor’s cart (basket size) against the time taken to complete or abandon the cart.

Reveals whether larger baskets are linked to longer decision times, or if decision-making is consistent regardless of cart size.

cart_basketSize_TimeNeeded

This chart uses circles to represent the relationship between the value of items in a cart and the time customers need to complete their purchase.

  • Each circle represents a group of carts.
  • The size of the circle shows how many unique carts fall into that group.
  • The position of the circle reflects the cart’s value and the average time needed before purchase.

Example:

The largest green circle may display these values:

  • 1000   – Minimum total cart value (MIN(total_cart_items_value))
  • Average time to purchase – e.g., ROUND(AVG(minutes_to_purchase)/60,0)   = average hours before purchase
  • Count of cartsCOUNT_DISTINCT(cart_id)   = total unique carts in that group.
Customer Decision Time

This visualization helps you quickly identify whether higher-value baskets take longer to complete or if smaller carts are purchased more quickly.
